So, what is Pilates?
The Pilates method is a series of slow, controlled, flowing movements that primarily strengthen the 'core' muscles that support and stabilise the spine, realign the body and help correct postural problems. Pilates focuses on total concentration, balance, precision and breathing, bringing together body and mind and dramatically transforming the way your body looks, feels and performs.

My name is Amanda Mitchell and I have lived locally to Hastings my whole life. I started exercising regularly when I was in my early twenties and over the years have attended various gyms, aerobics classes, boot camps and running clubs. While cardiovascular training is an important part of any exercise regime, I found that high impact training left me with various niggles, aches and injuries which ultimately led to the frustration of being unable to train at all, sometimes for long periods.
This is when I discovered Pilates. It allows me to strengthen and tone my body without putting unnecessary pressure on my joints, and at the same time corrects the postural imbalances that cause muscle aches and injuries.
I am a fully qualified level 3 Pilates instructor and a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS). I am also qualified to instruct those who are suffering with common orthopaedic conditions, as well as pre and post-natal women.
I offer mat based classes for mixed abilities, or one to one/small group sessions by appointment in Hastings and the surrounding areas.
